Dyad Exhibition Virtual Tour (Part 1)

As promised, I now present for your viewing pleasure a virtual tour of (my part of) the Dyad Exhibition.  You will have seen our entry wall, with a quilt from both Janine & I announcing the show. As you walk around the left side of the wall, past Janine's sculptures, you arrive at my work almost halfway down the long northern wall of the gallery.

The first piece is one you may be familiar with - Crossroads. It is a few years old now, but still one of my favourite quilts ever.

Next is Construction #3 - Eternal Impulse. This one is all about the joy of the colours and the improvisational process. This one has been seen before at this year's Sydney Quilt Show.

Man of Dreams/Man of Words is a portrait of my lovely brother. I think I've shown this one on the blog too. It is a mixed media painting, with text collaged onto the canvas before I began to paint.

Inner Landscape is a new work, and is really a celebration of the paint. With this piece I worked in a similar improvisational manner to the way I approach quiltmaking - such fun!!

The final works on this wall are kind of special to me - a portrait of my daughter Emma, along with two companion pieces.

This oil painting is entitled Dreamer, and is all about the tender time between girl-and-womanhood. It is based on a haiku I wrote about Emma...

She dreams in the spring

of all the luscious blossoms

her summer will bring

I painted these two panels as an extension and companion piece. You might notice the red dot beside the one on the left - yay!!!

I'll be back with the next instalment tomorrow - stay tuned!
